For a complete store count, Shopify's own guidance is the spreadsheet route: export your inventory, count offline, and import the corrected quantities back.

Of the three things Stocky did that Shopify admin does not do the same way, stocktakes are the one that changes shape rather than simply disappearing. There is a native counting tool. It is built for a different job than a full store count, and planning around that difference before August 31, 2026 is easier than discovering it during an inventory day.

What replaced what

Shopify POS has Quick Count, designed for spot checks of roughly 1,000 items in a session. That covers the common case well: count one aisle, one category, or the twenty products that always drift.

For a complete store count, Shopify's own guidance is the spreadsheet route: export your inventory, count offline, and import the corrected quantities back. It is less elegant than a purpose built stocktake screen and it works at any store size.

The spreadsheet method, in order

Export inventory to CSV and immediately save an untouched copy. That copy is your before picture and the only way to prove what changed.
Freeze receiving while you count, or count in sections and finish each section before stock moves in it. Counting a moving target is the usual reason a stocktake produces numbers nobody trusts.
Count into the sheet, one column for counted quantity next to the system quantity, so the variance is visible as you go.
Review the variances before importing anything. Large single item swings are usually a counting or unit error, not shrinkage.
Import the corrected quantities, then spot check ten products in admin against your sheet.

A note on what we sell, since this page names no app

We publish this guide and we make a label printing app. Stocktakes are not something our app does, and we are not aware of a single app that replaces Stocky's full store stocktake exactly. If someone tells you theirs does, ask specifically how many items it counts in one session and whether it reconciles against a spreadsheet.
