Your codes

One per line. Optionally add a name and a quantity after it, separated by commas or tabs, so you can paste two or three columns straight out of a spreadsheet.

Up to 250 labels per sheet, 100 of any one code. The PDF downloads straight away. Checking first tells you which codes become real retail barcodes and which do not, before you print anything.

Print it right the first time

Nine times out of ten the print dialog scaled the page. Tick the ruler option above, print one sheet, and measure the printed line with a ruler. If it is not 50 mm, set your printer to actual size or 100 percent and print again. Every label size in the list is defined at its real physical dimensions, so the only thing that usually goes wrong is between the PDF and the paper.

Two more worth knowing. Print on plain paper first and hold it against a sheet of your real label stock to check the grid lines up. And scan a few labels with the scanner you actually use, not with a phone from six inches away, because a phone camera is far more forgiving than a wedge scanner.

What it makes

A code of 8, 12 or 13 digits that passes its check digit is rendered as a real EAN-8, UPC-A or EAN-13. Everything else is rendered as Code 128, which is what most warehouse and internal SKUs use. A code that looks like a GTIN but fails its check digit is not silently printed as one, because that would scan back as a different number or not at all: it falls through to Code 128 and you get told.

Bar widths follow the GS1 minimums rather than stretching to fill the label, which is the single change that took our Avery 5160 output from failing at 4 degrees of tilt to reading past 10.

What this cannot do

It has no idea what your products are. It prints exactly what you paste, so it cannot look a SKU up, cannot fill in a price, and cannot know a barcode you have not typed. It also does not export ZPL for roll printers here, and it does not remember anything, so there is no reprint of last Tuesday's run.
